Scheduled for January 29 with bi-weekly services restoring Pakistan-Bangladesh air connectivity
Bangladesh’s national flag carrier, Biman Airlines, has released its flight schedule for services from Dhaka to Karachi, with the first flight departing on 29 January.
This marks a major development towards the restoration of direct air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh since 1971. Biman Airlines’ maiden flight from Dhaka to Karachi will operate on 29 January. Initially, Biman Air will operate two weekly flights between Dhaka and Karachi.
Biman Airlines has already started booking for the direct Dhaka-Karachi flights and all seats on the first flights were sold out within hours of bookings opening.
People in both Pakistan and Bangladesh have expressed excitement over the resumption of direct flights. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), acting on government instructions, allowed Biman Airlines to fly directly to Karachi a few days ago.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Biman Airlines reached an agreement last month to transport cargo between the two countries.
