Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital after the tragic incident a day earlier, where she inquired after the injured women and announced financial assistance to the affected families.
During the visit, Member of Provincial Assembly Sardar Habibur Rehman, Medical Superintendent of the hospital and BISP officials were also present.
The President met the injured women, examined their condition and directed the authorities to ensure the best possible medical facilities and full support.
Senator Rubina Khalid told the media that a comprehensive investigation into the incident was underway and that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible.
She added that scholarships under BISP are disbursed through partner banks and in this case a notice had been issued to the concerned bank for alleged negligence along with imposition of penalty.
She announced that the families of the deceased women would receive Rs1 million each, while the injured women would be given Rs300,000 each as financial assistance.
