Bitmain, one of the largest producers of Crypto Mining -hardware, is ready to open its first facility in the US in the next few months, reported Bloomberg and cited the company’s global business manager Irene Gao
The manufacturer of Antminer Rigs, currently producers in Southeast Asia, plans to create an American base and assembly line in Texas or Florida. Production is expected to begin in early 2026 with hiring already underway for 250 local workers.
The move comes about a year after President Donald Trump called for all remaining Bitcoin to be “made in the US”
Bitmain has long dominated the market for specialized cryptocurrency mining hardware. This dominance has been threatened by growing US control of Chinese tech companies and supply disorders triggered by escalating merchant stresses and customs threats.
Opening an American plant could speed up deliveries and repairs for customers in the country, Gao said, adding that while the labor costs are higher, the move still makes commercial sense.
Increased control from US customs and border protection has delayed shipments of mining equipment, and the US Trade Department has blacklisted Sophgo, an artificial intelligence company linked to Bitmain, accusing it of “acting at the request of Beijing to promote KIF’s target of original advanced chip roduction”, which refers to Feush’s Republic China.
Bitcoin mining was historically dominant in China as the low energy costs that miners could utilize in the country. After the practice was banned there in 2021, the United States became a prominent crypto mining in which US crypto mine workers such as Mara Holdings (Mara) and Cleanspark (CLSK) are now being traded in public.
Still, Bitmain’s American is moving obstacles, including legislative control and uncertainty as to whether cryptohardware such as ASIC miners will be subject to the same export rules as AI chips.
The company started a Bitcoin Mining Farm in rural Texas back in 2019 and utilized costs for low energy in the region. It is not clear if it still owns the site.
