At least nine workers were killed and seven others wounded in an explosion in the Shahrag area of ​​Balochistan’s Harnai on Friday, according to police.

The explosion, caused by a bomb planted on the road, occurred near a vehicle transporting coal miners. It is reported that the wounded workers are critical, Express News reported.

Deputy Commissioner Harnai confirmed that nine workers were killed and seven others were injured in the explosion. Most of the victims were from Swat and Shangla districts.

Law enforcement agencies were quickly cut off by the site and began to collect evidence.

The Balochistan Government condemned the attack with the provincial spokesman Shahid Rand that a study had been launched.

He confirmed that evidence was collected and the initial findings suggested that the explosive material had been placed next to the road.

Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, also condemned the bombing and expressed deep grief over the work of the workers.

Last week, another fatal accident in a coal mine in Darra Adam Khel claimed the life of two workers from Shangla. Both victims, Rehman Ali and Sarbali Khan, came from the Dherai and the Puran areas of the Shangla district.
