Quetta:
A railway track in the Dasht area was hit by a strong explosion on Tuesday, targeting Jaffar Express, who traveled from Peshawar to Quetta.
Officials said the unit, an improvised explosive planted near the track, went out when the passenger train went. The blast caused four bogies to derail and left almost a dozen passengers injured, including women and children.
Rescue workers and security forces quickly reached the place and launched emergency efforts to evacuate the victims. The wounded were moved to hospitals in Quetta, where an emergency was declared to ensure timely treatment.
Health officials reported that although more passengers had minor injuries, some remain in serious condition and receive critical care.
Photos that were shared online showed rescue teams working with law enforcement authorities to clear the wreck and help passengers.
The railway authorities confirmed that the explosion severely damaged the track and led to a suspension of train services in the area. A study has been launched, although no group has yet assumed responsibility for the attack.
A similar incident took place in August 2025, when six bogies were derailed near the same place.
This incident had come just three days after a Quetta-bound Jaffar Express narrowly escaped from a disaster in Sibi in which a bomb planted near the track exploding just after the passenger train went.
In another almost miss event on July 24, a strong explosion torn through the Quetta-Sibi-Jernbanes section and damaged a bogie of the Bolan mail.
A derailment of July 28 by the Jaffar Express train in SUKKUR was originally attributed to an explosion self by government-controlled media-but the Ministry of Railway said later that a technical error was the cause.
In June, a strong explosion of a remote -controlled explosion device mounted on railway tracks four bogies from Jaffer Express to derail in Jacobabad. No one was injured in the incident.
In April, the 3UP train on the way from Karachi to Quetta was stopped at Jacobabad Railway Station due to safety reasons.
