An explosion hit a railway track in the Dasht area of ​​the Mastung District in Balochistan on Tuesday, targeting Jaffar Express, traveling from Peshawar to Quetta and wounded a dozen passengers.

Officials said the unit was an improvised explosive planted near the track that detonated as the train passed. The blast caused four bogies to derail, leaving several passengers, including women and children, injured.

Rescue teams and security forces quickly reached the place to evacuate the victims. The wounded were brought to hospitals in Quetta, and an emergency was declared to ensure timely medical treatment.

Health officials reported that although some passengers had minor injuries, others remain in serious condition and receive critical care. Photos that were shared online showed rescue teams working with law enforcement to clear the wreck and help passengers.

The railway authorities confirmed that the explosion severely damaged the track and forced a suspension of train services in the area. A study has been launched, although no group has assumed responsibility for the attack.

Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi has ordered a study of the Jaffar Express incident and instructed the authorities to submit a report within 24 hours.
