Blast near Chaman Border claims five lives

Quetta:

At least five people were killed and three others wounded in an explosion on Thursday near a taxi stand in the refugee camp area in Chaman, close to the Pak-Afghan border.

The blasting took place in a busy place near the border crossing, an area visited by both travelers and locals. Eyewitnesses described the explosion as intense and said that it resonates throughout the city and the surrounding areas and spread panic and fear among the residents.

Emergency persons, including the Levies Force, Frontier Corps (FC) and other security staff, quickly reached the place and were closed from the area. Ambulances from the nearby government hospitals were sent to transport the deceased and wounded to medical facilities.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti instructed law enforcement authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation and submit a detailed report at the earliest.

According to the Balochistan Home Department, the explosion site is sealed with specialized forensic teams that are currently collecting evidence. While the exact nature of the explosion is under investigation, police sources have indicated that the first conclusions suggest it was a suicide bombing.

The home department has encouraged citizens to remain calm, avoid sharing non -verified information or rumors and cooperation fully with law enforcement authorities. In response to the incident, security has been further tightened along the Pak-Afghan border.
