In an Instagram post in January, O’Connor revealed that she had learned about her cancer diagnosis. She said she suffered through debilitating pain for weeks until the diagnosis.

“In 17 weeks since the beginning of October I have been in constant pain, gone back and forth between Durham and Newcastle RVI A&E to know that something was deeply down was seriously wrong,” O’Connor wrote a photo of her in a hospital bed.

“I said from the start that I felt it was cancer. I knew the risk. I have colitis and PSC, two diseases that dramatically increase the chances of getting it. I know how high my risk is and they do too. They always did.”

O’Connor added that doctors refused to take her concerns “seriously.”

“But not a doctor F — ing listened to me. Not a doctor took me seriously. Not a doctor did scans or blood tests I asked for while crying on the floor in pain,” the Instagram post continued. “Instead, they rejected me. They gas -loaded me, told me that it was nothing, made me feel like I was overreacting. They refused to scan me. They refused to investigate. They refused to listen. You even told me it was ‘all in my head.’ And now?

In February, O’Connor talked about another devastating personal circumstance.

“The last few months have been a roller coaster,” O’Connor wrote. “I have been pregnant with a beautiful baby, suffered a spontaneous abort and then got diagnosed with ‘incurable’ cancer. But I still feel on top of the world!”

Recently, O’Connor celebrated a milestone. She announced that she had “married the love of” her life on May 9th.

O’Connor was able to maintain her undefeated boxing record despite her battle with ulcerous colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. She went pro in 2021. She served medals at the World World Championships 2017 and 2018 during her amateur career.

O’Connor was born in Durham, England.
