Breathing room from merciless heat on the horizon

Islamabad:

A warm and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country on Friday, especially very hot in the plains Punjab and Sindh, where temperatures hovered between 40 and 50 ° Celsius.

The country has been in the grip of a burning heat wave since last week. However, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts a change in weather patterns over the coming days that could subside the heat wave.

According to PMD, the highest temperature on Friday was registered in Jacobabad in Sindh at 50.5 ° Celsius and in Sibbi in Balochistan at 47 ° C. Cities in Punjab reported temperature above 40 ° C. The humidity level was also very low.

In Karachi, however, the temperature rose to 39.1 ° C by up to 70% humidity. Metropolis is currently under the influence of cyclonic circulation from the Indian state of Gujarat. In other parts of Sindh, the weather remained warm and dry.

PMD said that a fresh system of western winds would probably enter the upper parts of Pakistan from Friday, which brought rain accompanied by Gusty Vind and Thunderstorm, which would continue with spaces until June 16.

The rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali and Sargodha. The forecast extends further to central Punjab, where cities such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh may experience scattered rain in the next few days.

In Upper Sindh, all districts are expected to receive thunderstorm -related rainfall, which brings much needed relief from the extreme temperatures that have seized the region, PMD said and advised citizens to take the necessary precautions in areas prone to the city’s flood or strong wind.
