Cleveland Browns trimmed their list on Sunday and cut a quarterback after the team’s last trial match in 2025 against Los Angeles Rams.
Browns announced that they were releasing quarterback Tyler Huntley. The move trims the quarterback room down to four players, including Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. It can be their only movement in front of the regular season.

ESPN reported that Browns have “planned to keep his four other QBs … on its 53-man list.” Not to mention, Cleveland has Deshaun Watson on an injured reserve due to a torn Achilles.
“I thought it was a good finish on that preseason as a football team just to make sure these guys gave that type of effort. So really happy,” said Brown’s main coach Kevin Stefanski on Sunday via the team’s website. “Obviously, now that the cut is starting to come over the next few days, one of the hard parts of this business is just that.
“So we work through it over the next 48 hours and then got four good work with the team Monday to Thursday. Then take that break over Labor Day before we get started the following week against Cincinnati. So much work to be done and we are happy to get to that work.”

Huntley was brought into the mixture after Pickett was injured. The disposable Pro Bowler played in the fourth quarter against Rams and was 10-of-13 with 71 passing yards against Philadelphia Eagles.
Browns has already named Flacco its start -quarterback in week 1. Pickett is expected to be available in week 1, probably as Flacco’s backup.
Stefanski said Pickett “gets better every day” when he fights back from a hamstring injury.
Cleveland added Flacco to the on -duty list during the high season and acquired Pickett from Eagles. The team chose Gabriel and Sanders in the draft.

Sanders did not play well in his last trouble match against Los Angeles Rams. He was fired five times. Gabriel had a touchdown pass. But it appeared at least for now that both rookies are safe.
