Bryson DeChambeau is on Bethpage Black with revenge.

When Dechambeau made the controversial step from the PGA tour to Liv Golf, he knew what he signed up and understand that playing in the Ryder Cup would be much more difficult.

Team United States Automatic Qualifications makes the team through the FedEx Cup point that has been achieved in Golf’s Four Majors and other PGA Tour events. But with Liv -Golf, who was only able to compete in the main subjects, Dechambeau missed to qualify for the 2023 team and was not elected as Captain’s choice.

“Yes, it sucked. I would be there. Didn’t play well enough in the main subjects,” Defechambeau told journalists on Thursday. “Known what I was against when I went to life. It’s a whole other conversation. But would still do the team and were unable to do so.”

After a crushing loss sans in Rome two years ago, DeChambeau had eight chances of Bethpage (four majors in 2024 and 2025) to make this year’s team. In these tournaments he won the US Open 2024, ended up in second place in both PGA championships and had three other top-10 finishes.

It was enough to not only get him on the team, but to qualify automatically.

“Watching guys losing really put a fire in the stomach and would make the team this time. Now we’re here and we’re one day away from starting probably if not the most exciting golf event in golf,” Defechambeau said.

It is certainly a relief for Defechambeau that was not eligible for last year’s Olympics and could not compete in 2021 after getting Covid.

European Ryder Cup player not impressed with Trump’s participation: ‘Just another spectator’

“It was a pretty big shot to the heart. Playing in team events all my life, playing in the Walker Cup, World Amateur, several other team events, that was all I wanted to do with growing up,” he said.

But ever since he missed Rome, he has got Bethpage Circled on his calendar.

“Being on the Ryder Cup for a winning team and a losing team that experiences both the heights and the lowest and shortages in Rome, this has put something in my stomach that is kind of made it a mission project for me,” said a stoic Defechambeau. “I want to be part of this team and be the most helpful person I can for this team the way possible.

“The words are really not there right now to explain how passionate I am over this US team and how well I think we are and how positive we are and how encouraging we are, inspiring we are, and what this captain has done to bring us together, to merge us like others as possibly no other captains have done in history.”

“Making this team was a passion project for me. It was A1,” he added. “That was the thing I would do the most, represent my country.”

Dechambeau is 2-3-1 in his Ryder Cup career, which made his first team in 2018. He played with Tiger Woods, and the Ryder Cup 2018 stays the last time Woods competed in the event.
