A local court in Islamabad on Monday rejected three pre-arrest bail petitions filed by Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

Justice Muhammad Afzal Majoka in several sessions heard the petitions on cases related to the November 26 protests, Express News reported.

Prosecutor Iqbal Kakhar and defense lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry appeared in court during the case.

Bushra Bibi’s lawyer submitted an application for exemption from appearance.

The prosecutor claimed that Bushra Bibi failed to post bail as required. The judge expressed concern and stated, “You have not yet posted the bonds. You are not complying with the court’s orders.”

Defense lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry replied that Bushra Bibi had to appear in court for a ruling on the £90m reference and was required to visit Adiala prison.

Judge Majoka subsequently rejected the plea for bail, noting that the interim bail earlier granted to Bushra Bibi was valid only till the date of hearing. The cases against her stem from her alleged involvement in protests held on November 26.

An accountability court in Rawalpindi on Monday postponed the publication of its verdict for the third time in the £190 million case involving former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana said the judgment had been postponed due to the absence of the accused and their legal representatives, Express News reported.

The judge stated that although he arrived in court at 8.30 and issued two summons to Imran Khan, then both Khan and Bushra Bibi failed to appear.
