Caitlin Clark’s emergence as one of the best WNBA players in the league in her rookie season came with a lot of control when Indiana Fever Star’s skill was talked about consistently during the summer.
Clark’s race and even sexuality were brought up as speech points throughout the 2024 season and appears to be on the overview of Pundits again this season. However, basketball legend Cheryl Miller seems to be done with these topics.

Miller showed up on Stephen Jackson and Matt Barne’s’ All The Smoke “podcast this month and pushed back on” Big Dummies “that made Clark’s race a problem.
“I want to be honest because it has to be said,” she said. “I can relate to the young lady and I felt to her. I know what it’s like to be hated. I know what it’s like to be a black woman and be hated because of my color. I can’t imagine this young lady I don’t want to use hatred but despised.
“She brought some to herself, a little because she is Cocky for a good reason. And I love it about her. But to see the dynamics and the media they had their tale. And I was happy and proud to see the story wasn’t the truth. And Angel (Reese) and her came together so well.”
Miller famous Clark and Angel Reese for putting the preconceived enmity they may have had to come together to 2024 the All-Star game and play well together on the floor.
“I didn’t know how talented she was and how well she sees the game in a 3D version, a thinker. Defensively, much better than I thought and gave her credit for,” Miller added. “So to see her and just spend some time … and one thing guys that I’ve learned is to go back and let these kids be themselves.”

As critics would not recognize the influence Clark made on the game in just a short time, Miller suggested that she be amazed.
“I was like ‘Come on big dummies now!’ Is she hyped? “I can’t reject her for what she got. Look, as much as she got, you can’t tell me that the door would have swung the other way where she doesn’t live up to the hype. Come on, people are still waiting for her to fall. ”
Clark was named Time Magazine’s Athlete of the Year, and even the price ruffled feathers in the league.
Washington Mystic’s co -owner Sheila Johnson said at CNN that the magazine should have given the award to the entire WNBA.
“Why couldn’t they have put WNBA on this cover and say, ‘Wnba is the League of the Year’ because of all the talent we have,” Johnson said. “When you designate a player, it creates hard feelings, so now you start hearing stories of racism within WNBA, and I won’t hear that.”

The fever reloaded during the high season with a very different team that was on the floor last year. From the bench, Stephanie White took over for Christie Sides as the main coach. The team added Dewanna Bonner, Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham to the schedule as well.
Indiana has 41 national television games this season.
