New York – The New York Liberty Lost their first season match against Indiana Fever on Saturday, but in the big schedule of it all by head coach Sandy Brondello the value of these matchups goes beyond victories and losses.
The fever handed the defending wnba -masters their first loss of the season in the back Caitlin Clarks Stellar performance.
This year’s reigning rookie fell a season high 32 points and made seven 3-Pointers in the 102-88 victory, while Sabrina Ionescu scored a season high 34 points for Liberty.

ESPN released TV rates for the expected matchup, which was the third most seen WNBA game ever at ABC with an average of 2.2 million viewers.

The game peaked with 2.8 million viewers, an increase of 76% from last season’s average season in the network.
Talking with journalists ahead of Tuesday’s match against Atlanta Dream, Brondello was asked about viewership’s milestone. While admitting that it was a game she wanted Liberty to be closed, Brondello recognized the importance of reaching a larger audience.
“I love it. That’s what we’ve been trying to aim for since the league started a long time, long ago,” she said. “It was definitely a good show and Caitlin put a good performance there.”

Saturday’s viewing numbers are following a trend that began last season when WNBA had its most watched regular season of 24 years and its highest participation in 22 years.
Much of this success correlated with Clark’s debut. She put League Records for most assists in one season (337) and most assists in a game (19). She also became the first rookie in the league story to record two triple-doubles and set the rookie record for a single season for points and 3-Pointers made.
The league’s rapid growth has generated rating numbers competing with other major sport leagues in North America.

The athletic Reported Tuesday that the Stanley Cup final between Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers has had average viewing numbers in the US between 2.3 and 2.6 million for the first four matches in the series. According to the report, it marked a 25% fall from last season.
“The more people can catch our eyes on our game, they fall in love with it because this is the best place in the world,” Brondello added.
