In his first meeting with journalists this year, Caleb Williams immediately dealt with “What everyone would love to ask about.”

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Williams had preferred to go to Minnesota and even tried to avoid drafting Chicago Bears, which eventually chose him # 1 overall.

Williams admitted that the story had become a “distraction” and thought it was important to talk about the circumstances.

The second -year quarterback did not deny exactly what was said in the book, “but something that continues to be lost and not being addressed is the fact that” he “would come” to Chicago after visiting them, which he did after his meeting with the Vikings.

Williams said his “thoughts” about the bears were “fair”, considering “There has not been a 4,000 yard fits.” Williams’ 4,030 total yards were most of a bears -quarterback ever.

“But I got hit on a visit and it’s a challenge to be able to try to turn around. And that was the main goal of all this. Through all that happened last year, and in previous years I think it was enticing,” Williams said.

“It was something that stared at me. I would come here and be the guy and be a part and be a reason why Chicago Bears turn this thing around. The last thing was said in all this, I think is the most important thing that I would be here. I love to be here.”

Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson became Bears’ new head coach this season. It was a feature Williams was “extremely excited” over to the point he even thanked Bears brass in a phone call.

“So when I got off the phone, I drove on the highway and I don’t know if it was safe or not, but I gave a loud cries and screams of just excitement,” Williams said at the time of employment.

“It brings a lot of clarity to the high season. It brings a lot of different things to the peak season. I’m really excited about the bears and am able to make this happen. And keep Ben Johnson as our coach for a long time.”
