St. Louis Cardinal’s starting pot Sonny Gray turned one of the most dominant pitching performances of the season in the team’s 5-0 win over Cleveland Guardians on progressive field Friday.

Gray, 35, completed “Maddux”, pitching nine laps of shutout ball while giving a hit and knocking out 11 blows with only 89 seats.

Gray’s performance marks the first time that a jug threw a closed closure of less than 90 seats since 2021. New York Yankee’s Ace Max Fried was the last jug to do so when he closed Baltimore Orioles as a member of Atlanta Braves.

The three-time All-Star has thrown seven complete matches in his 13-year-old career, but Friday’s complete game was Gray’s first since 2017 when he did it with Yankees.

“I did it much earlier in my career, and it’s been a while,” Gray said after the game. “You don’t know if you would be able to do it, especially the way the games kind of went, and especially with me. As if I didn’t throw over 100 seats very often.”

Gray never threw more than 12 seats in an inning and had two laps with eight or fewer seats. Gray was on the attack throughout the game with 19 first-pitch strikes for the 28 slaughterers he was facing.

Cardinals’ starter pulled 15 of Cleveland’s meetings in three seats or fewer, including six at the first pitch.

“I knew laps were kind of moving straight. I knew I was perfect through for so long. I made a good pitch there when the guy got hit, so I was doing well,” Gray said. “When I was going out for the ninth, it felt like just another lap, which was nice.”

The Cardinals (45-38) seem to be based on Gray’s performance when taking Guardians (40-40) in the second game in a three-game series on Saturday at. 16:10 et.
