A prisoner in District Prison Badin died due to alleged torture while he was also ill. The 30-year-old inmate, Muhammad Yousuf, had been moved from Badin to Hyderabad Civil Hospital. Before his death, two videos became viral on social media, in a video, prisoners accused prison authorities of torturing him while in the second, he also said he was ill and suffered from abdominal pain.

The brother of the prisoner, Gulab Qamrani, also accused the prison administration of torturing Yousuf and said his brother fell ill due to serious physical abuse of prison staff and claimed that Yousuf was exposed to brutal torture, causing his death.

However, the prison authorities said the prisoner was allegedly a drug addict and that he was in prison in a drug -related case. They said he was first taken to Badin Civil Hospital and later switched to Hyderabad Civil Hospital because of his condition.

Authorities denied any allegations of torture and claimed that the prisoner died due to his medical condition.

Relatives, political and social circles in Badin have said that reports of torture and bribery within district prison badin are common. They claimed that the prison authorities have previously exposed more prisoners to torture for not paying them money.
