Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) have successfully extinguished the fire that broke out near the Faisal mosque in Margalla Hills on Monday afternoon.

CDA President Muhammad Ali Randhawa monitored the firing efforts, as confirmed by his spokesman. A coordinated reaction was performed by officers from the Islamabad administration, CDA’s environmental wing and various other departments.

Over 64 firefighters participated in the operation, with fire cars vehicles specially deployed to control the fire. Thanks to CDA’s quick action, the fire was contained before it could spread further.

Following President Randhawa’s directives, additional teams have been set up to improve surveillance and patrol in Margalla Hills, ensuring a more efficient monitoring system.

In addition, the number of staff dedicated to firefighting efforts in the area has been increased to prevent future fire outbreaks.

On the other hand, a fire that started under the bucket near the Korangi cross on Saturday continued, even the other day.

The fire broke out as the workers drilled after a tube well at a depth of over 1,100 feet. KMC’s head of fire officer, Humayun Khan, confirmed that the fire’s intensity remains high, but experts believe it will eventually turn off when the shallow gas burns out.

The incident took place in an uninhabited plot without reported damage or material damage. Relevant agencies examine the type of gas reservoir underground.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, Mayor Murtaza Wahab and other officials provided updates during a press conference stating that firefighter teams and necessary staff are still present on site.

The fire was caused by a mixture of underground gas and water, and experts noticed that similar events have occurred in the past.

PRL -CEO Zahid Mir added that the site is near an oil refinery, and such fires usually fall within one to three weeks when the gas is depleting. Authorities ensure that the area is safe and continues to monitor the situation.
