CDF Munir meets Rubio, German dignitaries

Field Marshal and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Syed Asim Munir visited Germany from February 12 to February 14 to attend meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.

The CDF interacted with several dignitaries, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and discussed issues of mutual interest, including global and regional security dynamics and counter-terrorism cooperation.

As part of his interactions with the German authorities, the CDF called on German Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt, Foreign Policy and Security Policy Advisor to German Chancellor Günter Sautter and German Defense Chief General Carsten Breuer.

The meetings focused on contemporary security issues, bilateral defense cooperation and the need to promote global peace and security through bilateral and multilateral dialogue.

“Additionally, the COAS & CDF had a productive engagement with Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff, Brazilian Armed Forces and discussed bilateral military cooperation.

“General Rodolph Haykal, Comd Armed Forces, Republic of Lebanon also called on the COAS & CDF. During the interaction, the global and regional security situation and measures to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation were discussed,” a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
