While Hans Boston Celtics is struggling to keep their season alive on Wednesday night, Jayson Tatum underwent a successful operation to repair an Achilles saver that jumped in a game 4 loss to New York Knicks.
Tatum’s path to recovery begins now, and he spoke for the first time since he was injured in the fourth quarter of Game 4, which could result in him missing the entire NBA season 2025-26.
Tatum posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed after surgery with the thumb.

“Thank you for all love and supporter (Beanemoji),” Tatum wrote in an Instagram image text.
Celtics published their own screen shot of Tatum and said, “The comeback will be greater than the backlash.”

Tatum had his best playoff performance on 2025, scoring 42 points on 16 out of 28 shoots with seven made 3-Pointer against Knicks in Game 4. He also had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Boston was down at the time of injury and Tatum tried to plant on his right foot to go for a loose ball, but he immediately hit the floor of twisting pain.

Tatum was helped from the court by Celtics staff, and Madison Square Garden audience welcomes in a show of respect as he went to the closet. MRI results the next day confirmed what the team feared. Tatum had a torn Achilles that required surgery.
It will be a long journey back for Tatum that is likely to make its fourth straight all-nba first team. He starred in Celtics’ NBA Finals win over Dallas Maverick’s last season.
Celtics hoped to go back-to-back, and although many thought they would sail past Knicks in the eastern conference semi-final, Boston blasted two 20-point deficits in games 1 and 2 to fall into a 2-0 hole.

Celtics won Game 3 on the road, and Game 4’s loss had more branches than meeting an elimination game 5 back on TD Garden.
