The central Ashura procession in Karachi began at Nishtar Park on Sunday under tight security.

Strict security measures have been implemented across the city to ensure the safety of griefs participating in the event reported Express News.

The central procession from Nishtar Park began after a Main Majlis planned in the morning. After Majlis, the procession will continue along its traditional route and end by the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

The procession travels from Nishtar Park to Kharadar and passes through key areas such as Ma Jinnah Road. According to the traffic police, all roads from Numaish to Kharadar have been closed, except Bab-E-Ourdu Chowk.

To ensure extensive security, a heavy deployment of police and rankers has been made throughout Karachi.

A total of 20,350 officers and staff will be on duty for security. The procession route is thoroughly checked using sniffer dogs, and sharp shooters will be placed on roofs with tall buildings along the route.

Mobile eligibility services will partially be suspended in areas surrounding the procession to maintain close monitoring and prevent security threats.

In addition, a ban on pillion riding has been enforced across the city as a precautionary measure to avoid any unfortunate events.

A detailed traffic drainage plan has been implemented for Muharram 8 to 10.

Traffic police officers have been implemented by all key button to maintain the power of alternative routes. Authorities said the goal was to keep the movement smooth while ensuring public security.

Citizens were invited to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police’s helmet line, Madadgar 15.
