Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the National Assembly on Monday was marred by loud protests by opposition members, turning the session into a scene of chaos.
The assembly session, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, descended into disarray as lawmakers belonging to opposition parties shouted slogans and waved placards in support of their party’s founder.
Members’ protests included loud “Ooo Ooo” chants that drew sharp reactions from the benches of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
In response, PML-N lawmakers formed a protective barrier around the prime minister and countered with their own slogans, further escalating tensions.
The Assembly floor resembled a “fish market”, with heated exchanges between members of the rival parties.
Amidst the uproar, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq adjourned the session to 5 p.m. 14.00 the following day.
