Charlie Kirk fans honor influencer on the Yankees game

Two baseball fans who were at Yankee Stadium to see New York Yankees take on the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night, had conservative influencer Charlie Kirk top of the mind.

The two men sitting near the field were seen showing their support for the late founder of Turning Point USA, which was murdered on an Utah campus on Wednesday. One man wore a shirt that read “Charlie” and the other man wore a shirt reading “Kirk.”

Fans who packed the ballpark could also see President Donald Trump. Trump appeared at the stadium as part of Yankees’ festivities around the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11 in New York City. Trump met with players before the game and told Aaron referee he was an “great player.”

The church’s shooting death sent a ring effect across the United States. Several sports figures weighed in on his murder in the first 24 hours since it was announced he was dead. Yankees offered a moment of silence before their game Wednesday.

“Before tonight’s game, we held a moment of silence in Memoriam by Charlie Kirk,” the team said in a post on social media.

“Kirk founded the youth activist group ‘Turning Point USA’ and had become a fixture at university campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.”

Kirk’s photo was also posted on video boards.

He was hit by a single ball around 2 p.m. 12:20 Local Time at Campus at Utah Valley University in Orem Wednesday. The 31-year-old was surrounded by mostly university students when his event was underway.

Authorities have not yet published a suspect in the shooting. However, officials offered more details about the person they are after, and released several photos and a video of the alleged guilty.

The study was still underway.
