- Openai has added a new conversation feature to chatgpt
- The branching allows you to get off on a tang’s during a speech without overwriting a previous point
- The update makes it easier to test multiple directions while the original thread retains the original thread
Openai has given chatgpt users a new feature: the ability to branch their conversations with AI Chatbot. The apparently much sought -after feature allows users to explore more than a conversation path without rewriting or restarting their chats.
It is equivalent to saying “Let’s put a pin in it and return to it” when we talk to a friend. You can complete what you discussed, and then raise the previously mentioned idea and talk about it as well.
Except in this case, you go to the message from Chatgpt, you want to go on a tongs and click “Branch in a new chat” from the list of “More options.” A parallel thread appears with all your conversation to the point, ready to take a new direction.

It is a relatively small addition that can have a great effect, such as tracking changes when editing text. The original version is still there, but you can see what the edited version would look like too. Branching actually goes beyond that because you can have multiple layers of different changes all available at once.
Branching can be particularly useful when you don’t know exactly what you want and you brainstorming or feeling indecisive. You can try it yourself, even without subscription to chatgpt. When you choose the branching option, you get a new conversation window, even if only available on the web version of Chatgpt for now.
Branching ai
Branching is a great way for chatgpt to allow you to change your mind at the moment. People don’t always think about straight lines, and branching allows you to try a few options.
For example, it may be useful for teachers preparing multiple versions of a spreadsheet or company founder trying to make different versions of a pitch.
Or imagine you have a new recipe you want to try, but you want it to be spiced. You can ask for a spicer version of the recipe, but maybe decide maybe it would work better with some sweetness. Just file you from the previous recipe response and you can discuss it without having to return to your original recipe and delete the spicy option.
Branching is not entirely the power movement from the recent progress of chatgpt in memory or the new task-activating agent system, but not any improvement of AI-Chatbots must be complex. This is probably why it was so widely requested and why Openai does not put it behind a payment wall.
