- Report requirements Chatgpt dominates the AI market with more than four-fifths of worldwide chatbot use
- Confusion peaked by 14%before sliding into single digits
- Microsoft Copilot uses office integration to ensure a meaningful adoption growth
The global AI Chatbot market has quickly consolidated around a dominant player – Openais Chatgpt, new numbers have claimed.
Data from Statcounter covering July 2024 to August 2025, and based on over 3.8 billion page views per year. Month on more than 1.5 million sites has shown that Chatgpt currently owns 80.92% of the market.
At its highest in April 2025, Chatgpt drew 84.2% of worldwide use – and even when its proportion dipped in the following months, it continued to hold more than four -fifths of the global market, far ahead of any competitor.
No AI Chatbot is coming close to
The closest challenger in the data set is confusion, but its position looks less secure when viewed in context.
Confusion reached a highlight of 14.1% in March 2025, but slipped to 8.0% in July before recovering a little to 9.0% in August.
This course reflects a company with the brand’s visibility, yet struggles to maintain consistent adoption against the momentum in Openai’s ecosystem.
Confusion has tried to separate by emphasizing research-driven AI tools, answers and live data integration.
Still, its falling market share suggests that news alone may not be enough to maintain a competitive advantage of a rival with an overwhelming scale.
One of the more notable shifts in 2025 has been the increase in Microsoft Copilot.
From only 0.3% in March, Copilot quickly climbed past 5% in May and stabilized in the range 4-5% throughout the summer.
This wave shows that Microsoft’s strategy of embedding AI deeply across its office and Windows ecosystems is working.
Copilot stays far behind chatgpt, but its stable increase positions it to compete with confusion in the other place in the global market.
If integration continues to expand and the user’s addiction grows, it can become the most credible challenger outside of Openai.
The other smaller rivals in the market are fighting for relevance.
Despite Google’s wide range, Google Gemini has had between 1.9% and 3.3% of the market and shows the message.
Deepseek showed a late uptick and topped by 2.7% in August 2025, while Anthropics Claude remained below 1.2%.
The figures present a market that is dynamic, yet highly concentrated. For the time being, Chatgpt remains dominant, confusion is under pressure, and Microsoft Copilot is steadily catching up.
