Chehlum by Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala were observed in Karachi with religious reverence and solemnity. The central grief collection (Majlis-e-Aza) was held in Nishtar Park under the auspices of Pak Muharram Hall, where the famous learned Allama Shahenshah Naqvi delivered a sermon on the hardships of the Ahl-E-Bait.
After Majlis began the most important Chehlum procession and continued along Ma Jinnah Road to Imambargah Ali Raza, where Congregational Zuhrain beans were led by Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi.
The procession then followed its traditional route passing through Sea Breeze, Empress Market, Tibet Center, Jama Cloth Market and Lighthouse, which ended at Husainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
Tight safety schemes were in place, with review ports installed at the procession’s input and starting points and routes sealed with barricades, water tankers and containers. A heavy quota of police and rankers, including staff on motorcycles, mobile vans and armored vehicles, were deployed.

The procession was also monitored by Sniffer Dogs, Bomb Disposal Squad and Sharpshooters. Furthermore, mobile phone services remained suspended in certain areas for security reasons and a ban on pillion riding was enforced.
Throughout the procession, mourning groups (Matami Anjumans) recited elegies and performed Matam. Devoted paid tribute to symbolic representations of Zuljanah (the horse of Imam Hussain Ra), Alams (Flag) and Taboots (replicas of chests).
Distributions of food and drink-inclusive Biryani, Sheermal, Sherbet, Water and Tea-were also made as offers (Nazr-O-Niyaz), while special events of women were made for female grieving, including setting up water stalls (sabels).
To mitigate the effects of heat, the water was sprayed along the route, while ambulances and medical camps were stationed throughout the processional route. Governor Kamran Tessori and further IG Javed Alam Odho also participated in the procession.
Chehlum, Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh concludes in Lahore
Chehlum by Imam Hussain (RA) and the final ceremonies for URS of Data Ali Shade, widely known as Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), were observed across Punjab on Friday under extensive security schemes. Authorities confirmed that all processions, Majalis and URS collections ended peacefully, without reported major events.
This year, the 20th Safar in the Islamic calendar fell with both Chehlum and the third and last day of the URS celebrations in Lahore.
Over 37,000 police officers and staff were deployed throughout the province to ensure security of 644 Majalis and 392 grief processes. In Lahore alone, 44 Majalis and 14 Processions were held, protected by over 12,000 officers.

Security forces sealed connecting streets, stationed snipers on the rooftops and monitored routes via real -time CCTV provided by Punjab Safe Cities Authority. Review of gates, 6,753 metal detectors and 926 control points were created for screening.
Women officers were deployed to women and children, while staff in ordinary clothes monitored crowds.
“To maintain peace and protect every citizen is our mission,” Kamran said, calling for public cooperation under sensitive apartments.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar praised the “excellent security schemes” and praised CCPO Lahore, you operations and senior officers for their coordination.
He noted that law enforcement agencies had been to a large extent for several days, taking action against one-wheels, air firing and other violations during both the religious observations and independence day celebrations earlier this week.
Police reported 277 arrests and 249 cases during the crash, including 162 arrests for one-wheel and 13 for air firing.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, who is also chairman of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, visited the home department’s central control room to undergo live monitoring. He, together with acting chief secretary Punjab Ahmad Raza Sarwar, became home secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi and other senior officials.
Rafique confirmed the government’s obligation to ensure peace, protect life and property and guarantee complete religious freedom. He said the authorities had engaged scholars and community leaders from all sects throughout Muharram to promote unity and harmony.

The acting chief secretary added that all relevant departments – including police, rescue 1122 and traffic authorities – remained on a high alarm until the grieving and devoted returns. The home secretary said a zero-tolerance policy was enforced against sectarian hate opinion with the provincial cyber-pat rolling cell surveillance and intervene against transgressions.
Special events were made in Lahore for thousands of devotions who participated in URS.
Control spaces at provincial and district levels ensured continuous coordination between security and administrative agencies. Officials credited the joint efforts of the Punjab police, the home department, district administrations and religious leaders for the peaceful conclusion of both events.
Carbala Martyrs honored in Rawalpindi
Chehlum of the Holy Prophet (saw )’s grandson, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and the martyrs in Karbala were observed in Rawal Pindi with solemn reverence, deep religious innerness and heartfelt devotion.
Six grieving processions with Zuljinnah, Tazia and Alam were taken into remembrance of the martyrs who culminated late at night at Imambargah Qadeem after following their designated routes.
Along processional paths, booths were set up to offer cold water, refreshments and tea. Mournful paid tribute to the eternal victim of the martyrs in Karbala for the cause of Islam through elegies (Nauhakhwani), breast care (matam) and self -flagellation with chains (Zanjerzani).
The first grief process began at 1 p.m. 13:30 from Imambargah Aashiq Hussain, who passed through Teli Mohalla, Murree Road, selection Chowk and Iqbal Road before merging with the main process of Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain.
Congregational Zuhr and ASR Beans were offered at Fawwara Chowk, while Maghrib and Isha beans were performed on Jamia Masjid Road. Women and children participated in large numbers.
Processions from Imambargah Hifazat Ali Shah, Imambargah Darbar Shah Chan Chiragh and Imambargah Shuhada-E-Karbala, all carrying Zuljinnah, converged by Purana Qila Chowk. The central procession from Imambargah Baltistania, about Pura, began at Dingi Khoi, continued through Banni Chowk and Jamia Masjid Road and ended at Imambargah Qadeem near Maghrib.
A security detail consisting of 4,000 employees was deployed, with ranks called in and the triple brigade located on red alarm. The processes were closely monitored through drones and TV cameras with closed circuits. The head of Tehreek Nifaz Fiqh Jafariya, Allama Muqaddasi, participated with the senior officers in the district administration and the police, as well as members of the Peace Committee.
Before the process began, grief collections were held in various Imambargahs, where scholars paid tribute to the philosophy of martyrdom and Hazrat’s Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.
