Chiefs’ Charles Omenihu self -assured travis Kelce will be back: ‘We can’t go out like that’

The Kansas City Chiefs is heading for a transformation season where most of the schedule must enter free agency. But one of the biggest questions the team faces will be what the tight end Travis Kelce decides in terms of his future.

Kelce was facing pension speculation in the construction of the Super Bowl Lix. Had Kansas City continued to make the NFL story with a third equal championship, many thought he would be retired.

But Philadelphia Eagles threw a wrench into the suspected plans.

Kelce said after 40-22 loss that he will take time to decide what is next.

“I know everyone wants to know if I’m playing next year and right now I just kick everything down the road. I kick every time I can down the road,” he said in the latest episode of his podcast, “new heights .

But one of Kelce’s current teammates thinks the veteran tight end will be back next season.

“Big Dog, we – the whole organization – we can’t go out like that,” said Kansas City Defensive End Charles Omenihu on Thursday during a performance on Fox Sports’ “Facility.”

“He’s a Hall of Famer from the moment he says, ‘I’m done.’ But I think the trot has a lot left.

Omenihu said that despite the changes that are definitely coming in high season, Patrick Mahomes is enough for a reason for Kelce to stay.

“I think he’s coming back. I think he’ll give it another go.”

A team source told The Athletic on Friday that the team has given Kelce a deadline for mid -March to make a decision.
