Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was like the rest of the sports world early Sunday morning when he learned Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to Los Angeles Lakers.

Lakers acquired the five-time all-star, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a first round election in 2029. Utah Jazz was also involved in the trade where he got Jalen Hood-Schifinio and a future choice of Second round.

“I’m sick rn….” Mahomes wrote on X.

He was far from the only one shocked by the deal.

Doncic had been out of Mavericks’ set -up since Christmas when he left the game with a strained left calf. He is now prevented from signing a five-year SuperMax contract extension that would have been worth $ 345 million. He is still eligible for a lucrative extension where the maximum is $ 230 million.

“There are other teams loading,” said Maverick’s general manager Nico Harrison on Sunday. “He would be able to take his own decision at some point whether he wants to be here or not whether we will supermax him or not, or whether he will opt out of it. We had to take all that in mind and I Feeling that we came out in front of what could have been a stormy summer.

Doncic is only 25 and has been one of the best players since Dallas acquired him in a draft daycare with Atlanta Hawks in 2018.

He average 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists per Match. He ended up in third place in the NBA MVP vote last year.
