For the first time since 2014, Kansas City Chiefs is 0-2 to start an NFL season after falling to Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 in a Super Bowl Lix-Rematch at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
It is also the first time in his career that Patrick Mahomes has not won in the first two games of a season. Included Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia, Mahomes is on a three-match’s losing row for the first time in his career.
These are not the numbers that Chiefs wanted to open the new season, but the Eagles rolls with a 2-0 start in 2025 thanks to a defense that delivered on the road.

Rookie defensive back Andrew Mukuba turned a central performance with half a sack, six tackles and his first career upbeat. With Chiefs down with three in the fourth quarter, Mahomes-which was struggling to find consistency earlier in the game and dimensions of the Eagles’ 6-yard line.

Looking for Travis Kelce on the finish line of a theater piece that the duo had run countless times, Mahomes fired a passport that Kelce could not secure. The ball jumped out of Kelce’s hands and into Mukuba’s, which returned it 41 meters near the midfield.
Eagles capitalized quickly, Marsled 59 meters before Jalen hurt a quarterback-nine to expand the lead to 20-10.
This pillow turned out to be important. Mahomes responded with a 49-yard touchdown strike to Tyquan Thornton and cut the deficit to three. But Philadelphia restored the subsequent Onside kick, with AJ Brown, which secured the ball to create the Eagles’ last drive.

Saquon Barkley, who carried 22 times in 88 yards and a touchdown, picked up the necessary yardage to let the hurt kneel the clock. Hurts ended 15-of-22 in 101 yards and steered the game while the defense stole the limelight.
Mahomes went 16-of-29 in 187 yards with a touchdown and led the bosses in haste with 66 yards and another score of seven bears.
It wasn’t the shootout fans that looked at Superdome in February, but once again Eagles turned out to be the superior team.

Next, Chiefs travel to Metlife Stadium to meet New York Giants, which is also 0-2 to start the season.
