Children who were schooled with mountain protection

Islamabad:

The 21st National Children’s Mountain Conservation Meet, which was organized by AFP (AFP) from 11 to 20 July 2025, completed in Islamabad today.

During this program, every year, about a hundred children are selected from all parts of Pakistan to participate in a 10-day environmental education camp in one of the mountain areas of Pakistan. Hundreds of children and employees participated in this year’s camp, which was held in the beautiful Siran -Dal in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The camp was followed by Children Mountain Forum, held at a hotel in Islamabad, where young participants in The Moot gave presentations on the theme “Climate Change and its influence on the mountain environment”.

The National Coordinator of NCMC Meet Project Aftab Rana informed that this flagship program for AFP was launched on the occasion of the International Year for Bjerge-2002 with the aim of raising awareness of young people about the mountain ecosystems and involving them in meaningful activities using the mountain area as an open classroom.

He further stated that this educational program involves young children in action -oriented learning about the natural environment and its related problems. Participation in this meeting makes them conscious enough to do something practical for conservation and preservation of natural environment by implementing micro -level projects in their community and schools. The children who attend this meeting are titled “Eco-Guards”, which gives them confidence to play an active role in their daily lives to raise awareness of the protection of the natural environment and its important role in our daily lives.

Based on the first -hand exposure, the young speakers in their presentations highlighted questions that the natural environment faces in mountainous areas and shared their personal observations with the audience. They also made recommendations to the government departments concerned to tackle the environmental issues, especially questions related to climate change. At the end of the forum, a joint petition was presented by the young representative of NCMC met 2025.

Ambassador for the Italian Republic of Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, was the main visit to this event. In his closing comments, Marilina AFP’s efforts to raise awareness of young people valued in the preservation of natural environment. She said, “in today’s world of digital technologies and over -consumption, it has become more important that we need to make efforts to keep young people in contact with Mother Earth.” She emphasized the long -standing collaboration between Italy and Pakistan in the preservation of mountain and glacier, which has been running for over a century.
