J-35 fighter jets offering stealth, long-range and deep-streaming capabilities
China’s J-35A fifth generation of fighter jets, which will soon be delivered to Pakistan, contain stealth technology, advanced sensors and deep-bending capabilities that could significantly increase Pakistan’s air power, according to defense analyst Brandon J. Weichert.
J-35A is developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation and is China’s second fifth gene aircraft after Chengdu J-20. It is equipped with an active electronic scanned array (AESA) radar, electrooptic targeting systems and advanced Avionik to increase the situation’s awareness and targeting of precision.
Designed to avoid detection, the aircraft’s stealth profile reduces its radar cross-section. It is compatible with long-range PL-15 and PL-17 air-to-air missiles, which offers a great advantage in strife-row match.
Powered by Russian RD-93 or Chinese WS-19 Turbofan engines, J-35A can reach speeds of up to 1,367 mph. Delivery to Pakistan could begin in August, when pilots were already undergoing training in China.
Jet is expected to replace Pakistan’s aging fleet of F-16S and Mirages. Weichert notes that J-35a’s capabilities will enable Pakistan to better counter Indian air defense better and perform deep radiant missions and potentially move the regional air balance.
