Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, met the Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad, the military’s media wing said Friday.
“Discussions focused on regional security, terrorism and questions of mutual interest,” the intermediate public relations said in a statement.
It said both sides confirmed their decision to strengthen the strategic partnership throughout the weather and improve coordination on regional and international forums.

FM Wang Yi repeated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development, while COAs expressed gratitude for Peking’s consistent support, the statement added.
“The meeting ended with a common commitment to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region.”
The meeting came a day after Chinese FM held meetings with Pakistan’s top officials, including prime minister, President and Deputy Prime Minister.
A day earlier, Chinese FM held strategic dialogue with his Pakistani colleague Ishaq Dar, where the two countries confirmed their unshakable obligation to the development of the high-quality of the upgraded China-Pakistan Pakist.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the entire relationship between Pakistan-China connections and discussed important regional and global issues. They also exchanged in-depth views on several facets of bilateral cooperation, including CPEC 2.0, trade and financial relations, multilateral cooperation and people-to-people-tape.
By tackling the joint press effort with Chinese FM YI, Deputy Prime Minister and FM senator DAR emphasized that the two countries enjoy completely unanimity and consensus on all major bilateral, regional and global affairs.
“We are heard by YI’s vision to promote our bilateral cooperation, especially upgrading CPEC to its next phase,” noted Dar.
Chinese FM Wang described CPEC as the cornerstone of the strategic partnership in Pakistan-China and said the current priority is to promote high quality development of the corridor.
He said the two sides during the 6 strategic dialogues agreed to upgrade CPEC to “a growth corridor, livelihood -enhancing corridor, green corridor and open corridor”.
“We will work hard to elaborate on our industrial agriculture and mining cooperation to improve the welfare of the Pakistani people and accelerate the Pakistan capacity for self-supporting development and increase Pakistan’s economic resilience,” he said, adding that China also supports the development and operation of the Gwadar harbor and promotes KKH-value project. In addition, the Chinese Foreign Minister also welcomed the third party’s participation in the ML -1 (Main Line Railway) project.
