Cinemas are fighting like LEDs, mobile takes over

Islamabad:

The traditional cinema experience quickly loses its charm as the audience is increasingly addressing LEDs and mobile screens to watch their favorite movies. The once threw charm at overcrowded theaters and the magic of the big screen falls slowly.

This shift in viewer preferences has raised concerns about the future of cinema in Pakistan, where the industry faces a significant challenge in maintaining its relevance. The essence of this change is the increase of affordable smartphones and LED -TVs that have revolutionized how people eat entertainment.

With the convenience of streaming movies and showing at any time, the audience is no longer limited by cinema plans, making the home see a far more attractive option.

Film enthusiast Sohail Khan said, “People prefer to watch movies on their conditions without the hassle of theater stages and crowds. I prefer to watch movies on my mobile – it’s practical and cozy.” He pointed out how technological advances have fundamentally reshaped entertainment consumption.

Another keen viewer, Ihsan Sikander, added, “LEDs offer a better viewing experience, and cinemas are still overpriced. Why should I spend money on expensive tickets when I can enjoy the same movie from home?” He suggested that cinemas reinvent themselves to remain competitive against home entertainment options.

Cinema owner Mukhtar Baig acknowledged the fall in footing in theaters and attributed it to the increase in streaming services and affordable technique. “Theaters need to adapt to developing viewing habits and offering unique, immersive experiences,” he said. “This shift in preferences asks serious questions about the future of cinema in the country.”

As streaming becomes the norm, stakeholders agree that traditional cinema should innovate to survive in a changing entertainment landscape.
