Rawalpindi:
A violent switching between public transport staff and National Highway & Motorway Police (NHMP) at 26 number Chungi has emerged, with video footage of uniformed officers “assault of” bus crew members who go viral.
In response, the motorway police accused the transport staff of attacking an officer, damaging a government -issued tablet and tearing his uniform.
According to sources, NHMP staff administered heavy traffic jams at 26 number Chungi when an argument broke out between them and a passenger bus crew.
The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, caught on video.
The footage shows four uniformed NHMP officers who physically attack a bus employee.
An officer is seen as a baton stick and beat the transport worker, while another person in civilian clothing is also seen pushing the bus crew.
NHMP officials said the transport staff attacked Inspector Noor Faraz, beat him, destroyed a government-issued tablet and tore his uniform.
In response, additional police personnel were deployed to check the situation and a legal complaint was filed against the defendant at the Tarnol police station.
Following the incident, the extra Inspector General (AIG) in the Northern Region took immediate notice and formed an investigation committee led by sector commander North-1 Sp Jawad Shah.
Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to ensure justice and reveal all aspects of the incident.
