Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the preparation of a program for the artists’ welfare in the province.
She approached Punjab Culture Day ceremony in Alhamra Arts Council and said, “I will do something special for well-being for artists of Punjab to be an example.”
She asked the provincial senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Minister of Information Azma Zahid Bokhari to chalk a program for the artists’ welfare. The minister said, “Everyone should be proud to speak and be called Punjabi. I have tremendous love for earth, people, music, traditions and culture in Punjab.”
She added, “I love Pakistan when I am a patriotic Pakistani. Under my exile I used to shout to remember the scent of Punjab’s soil in the rain. Youth must learn English, but they should speak the Punjabi language with pride. Punjab and Punjabi are our identity, we can not forget it.”
She said, “After many decades, a number of fairs have resumed in Punjab. The horse and the cattle show resumed after 30 years and the people enjoyed it for two weeks. Mela Chiraghan was revived after many years.”
