Cm Maryam announces fare for Lahores electrical bus connection

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday inaugurated Lahor’s first electric bus transport system with the aim of giving a more affordable and environmentally friendly commuting.

In a speech at the launch, Maryam Nawaz said the initiative is part of her vision for a “Green Punjab.” She confirmed that 27 electric buses have arrived and set the fare to Rs. 20 to make public transport more available.

The new service allows students, senior citizens and different people to travel for free using an electric bus card.

Passengers also have access to free internet and charging facilities on board.

Nawaz also announced plans to introduce 500 more electrical buses before August and expand the Metrobus service to Faisalabad and Gujranwala in the next financial year.

In addition, the government is aiming to supply 100,000 electric bicycles to students as part of its transport modernization drive.

Officials say the initiative is a step towards reducing traffic jams and carbon emissions, making Laorrest’s public transport system more sustainable.

In addition, Peshawar is set to expand its bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service with the addition of 72 new hybrid diesel buses to meet the growing demand and light overload in the city.

During a meeting with chairman of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, it was decided to start BRT buses on new routes along Ring Road, Bara Road and Khyber Road, Express News reported.

In this regard, 72 new diesel hybrid buses will be purchased.

A six -month deadline has been set for the implementation of the civilian works required for the purchase of new buses and operations on these new routes.

Progress with the ongoing construction of seats for the BRT system was also reviewed.

A briefing during the meeting revealed that the mall for Hayatabad and Dubgari Plaza, under construction, will be completed by the end of April.
