Sindh-Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited together with cabinet members Mausoleum by the founder of the National-Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah-I occasion of Pakistan Day.
They offered Fateha (beans) and laid flowers at the tomb of the founder of Pakistan.
In a speech with the media, CM Murad Ali Shah reflected over the meaning of 23. March 1940, when the Muslim league throughout India adopted the Pakistan Lahore decision, which laid the basis for an independent homeland.
CM also mentioned the tragic events in 1971 and how former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto played a central role in the reconstruction and association of Pakistan.
Comment on recent terrorist incidents in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, including the attack on Jaffer Express and events in Noshki, Kalat and Bannu, Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of national security. He criticized political elements that had previously neglected to attend meetings of the National Security Committee and reiterated that terrorism should be treated collectively.
‘No Channels are being built’
To a question, chief minister Murad Shah categorically said that no channels have been erected. He turned to the public’s concerns and emphasized that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will personally visit different areas to reassure citizens that such channels will not be built.
He reiterated that PPP will never allow the construction of these channels and that any wrong information about the case will be clarified.
Murad Ali Shah also claimed that no channels have ever been planned for construction in Sindh, and even the allotted countries for corporate farming will not receive water from any channel.
He called on the federal government to convene a CCI meeting to discuss all outstanding issues, including the water issue.
When he expressed his concerns, the minister of chief also pointed out the delay in the construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur highway.
“Despite several attempts to promote the project, it has not begun,” he said. He emphasized that this highway is not only intended for Sindh, but for the whole country as it will significantly increase trade.
Mr. Shah indicated that funds have been allocated for this highway under the public sector Development Program (PSDP), but this priority is unjustified. He recalled that when the question was previously raised in the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), Sindh did not oppose the construction of a road, but the absence of a fair development mandated by the constitution.
CM claimed that the Hyderabad-Sukkur highway should first be designed instead of focusing on connecting other districts elsewhere. He also said that although the Sindh government should not be required to contribute, it is willing to do so to speed up the project.
By emphasizing provincial autonomy, the minister of chief made it clear that the Sindh government does not allow any federal institution to implement projects in the province without its consent, as such actions lead to double work.
He quoted earlier cases, especially during Imran Khan’s term of office, where parallel projects were initiated by both federal and provincial governments, resulting in inefficiency.
Completed his address, the Minister of Chief of Pakistan asked for the continued progress and urged all citizens to be prepared to defend the country.
