Sindh -Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was chairman of a meeting on Monday to review progress in the ongoing crash against illegal hydrants and unauthorized water tankers in Metropolitan City. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab informed the session that 243 illegal hydrants had been torn so far, with 212 FIR’s registered and 103 people arrested. He added that around 3,200 water tankers had been registered via QR codes, which had not only improved the water distribution, but also increased revenue from Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation with RS60 million. Separately announced CM Shah that Sindh has sufficient wheat reserves – 1.3 million tons – to meet demand until February 2026, with the new crop expected in March. He said this while he was chairman of a high -level meeting in his office, which was called to undergo the ongoing operation against bandits. CM Shah instructed police to intensify intelligence -based operations (IBOs), especially in flooded frames river areas. "With parts of the Katcha -Belt flooded due to recent floods, criminal elements are displaced. This provides an opportunity to eradicate them. The operation needs to be accelerated," he added. CM Shah instructed Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah to devise an extensive infrastructure development plan for the river belt. The plan will include the construction of roads, schools, hospitals, dispensers and the provision of transport facilities. He assured that rehabilitation and development work would begin as soon as flooding water retires. The meeting attended Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Haids Shah, IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, Main Secretary Agha Wasay, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi and other high -ranking officials. In orders for the meeting, IGP MEMON and the domestic minister said that since October 2024 there were technology-driven operations in the Katcha region. Between January 2024 and September 2025, a total of 760 targeted operations and 352 search operations were performed. During this period, 159 Dacoits were killed, including 10 in Sukkur, 14 in Ghotki, 46 in Kashmore and 89 in Shikarpur, while 823 suspects were arrested. Eight most sought -after criminals were also neutralized. Law enforcement authorities recovered 962 weapons of different calibers during the operations. When highlighting the strategic significance of infrastructure, the minister said that the construction of the Ghotki-Kandhkot bridge would improve the regional connection and help to restore law and order. "Sindh -Government’s highest priority is the maintenance of peace and security throughout the province," he added.
