Cm Punjabs Ramadan -Package sees fraud from government officials

A major fraud involving government officials in Punjab’s Ramadan Package Distribution has been uncovered where police launched an investigation of the case.

The alleged fraud was committed in the “Ramadan Neghban package” intended for the public, where officials derived funds intended for disadvantaged, Express News reported.

According to a report, officials took advantage of the package by pocketing the funds instead of distributing them to the deserved recipients.

Two government employees, including police officers, and a third person have been arrested in the context of fraud, which involved control of RS1.5 Lakh.

Police registered a case against the suspects and recovered the amount already paid by one of the defendants.

The study revealed that the suspects had fraudulently discarded 17 controls, while another 92 controls had not yet been paid. The defendants, including government employees Hafiz Abdul Rahman and Mazum Ali, tried to keep the funds intended for the public.

The investigation was led by assistant commissioner Shalimar and revenue officer Sabir Ali, who, after arresting the defendant, handed them to police. The case was filed during the complaint from Dr. Rizwan, Deputy District Health Officer, at HarbanSpura Police Station.

Under the Ramadan package, eligible persons were to receive a bank draft of RS10,000 each. However, the accused officials redirected these funds and tried to pay them instead of delivering them to the rightful recipients.

Police continue to investigate the case where authorities are now working to prevent further false activities in the future.
