Coas Asim Munir, Libyan Army Chief Discusses Security, Defense Band

Pakistan and Libya agree to improve bilateral defense cooperation through industrial cooperation and exchange of technical expertise, in an attempt to tackle developing regional security challenges, the military’s media wing reported Friday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the understanding was reached during a meeting between Chief of Army Staff (Coas) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Havar at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

The two military leaders discussed questions of mutual interest, regional dynamics and new security threats, while expressing commitment to strengthening the defense bond between the two countries.

Upon arrival at GHQ, Lieutenant General Hadar was presented with an honorary guard of the Pakistani army. He also laid a flower wreath at the Yadgar-E-Shuhada to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistani army.

Later in the day, the Libyan commander -in -chief, accompanied by a delegation, urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

PM, which welcomes the visible, expressed hope of greater cooperation between Pakistan and Libya across several sectors, including defense, economics and people-to-people exchanges.

The two sides held discussions about improving bilateral ties with a special focus on security cooperation and common regional interests. General Size Lieutenant thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for the warm hospitality that was expanded to him and his delegation during the visit.
