Coas confirms defense, security collaboration during China Visit

Chief of Army Staff (Coas) Field Marshal Asim Munir made an official visit to the high level of the People’s Republic of China, holding a series of meetings with Senior Chinese Political and Military Management to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two fraternal nations, the military said in a statement on Friday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Coas called on his excellence Han Zheng, vice president of the People’s Republic of China, and his Excellence Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister.

During these engagements, questions of mutual interest were discussed, including the developing regional and global security environment, ongoing connection initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and coordinated approaches to new geopolitical challenges.

“Both sides expressed satisfaction over the depth of bilateral commitment and repeated their common obligation to sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation and long -term regional stability,” ISPR said.

The Chinese leadership recognized the professionalism of the Pakistan armed forces and described them as a cornerstone of resilience and an important contributor to peace and stability in South Asia, ISPR further added.

On the military side, Coas Gen Munir held detailed meetings with General Zhang Youxia, Vice -President of the Central Military Commission (CMC); General Chen Hui, Political Commissioner for the Pla Army; and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, chief of staff for the PLA army.

Discussions at the military level focused on strengthening defense and security cooperation, including collaboration on combating terrorism, joint training and exercises, defense maternity and improved institutional relations.

“Both sides emphasized the importance of operational interoperability and strategic coordination to effectively counter hybrid and transnational threats,” ISPR said.

Chinese military leadership expressed full confidence in the strength of the bilateral defense and recognized Pakistan’s central role in promoting regional peace and stability, the statement added.

Coas Gen Munir conveyed appreciation of China’s consistent support and confirmed Pakistan’s decision to further expand military-to-military cooperation across all domains.

Upon arrival at the PLA army’s headquarters, the COAs were presented with an honorary guard, reflecting the long-standing camera and deeply rooted military ties between the armed forces in Pakistan and China, noted the statement.

“The visit reflects the growing depth of political-military ties between the two fraternal nations and emphasizes their joint decision to promote regional security through sustained high-level and engagement dialogue,” Ice.
