Rawalpindi:
Chief of Army Staff (Coas) Field Marshal Asim Munir has emphasized the importance of good governance and closer civilian-military coordination to combat flood challenges and support affected communities, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief visited flooding areas in the Kasur sector and flood camp in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, to review the situation and assess ongoing rescue operations.

The visit focused on “Improving synergy between the civil administration and the military to ensure effective assistance to the affected population,” ISPR said. Punjab’s chief secretary and other senior civilian officials were also present.
During the visit, Munir received a detailed orientation on the Earth’s situation, including ongoing rescue and relief operations. When he interacts with civil administrative officials, he emphasized the importance of “good governance and inclusive, human-centered progress.”
He said that all necessary measures, including infrastructure development, should be accelerated to protect people from recurring flood damage. “The state cannot afford loss of precious life and property every year,” he noted.

Asim Munir also confirmed the Pakistani Army’s “unshakable obligation to support all initiatives aimed at public welfare,” emphasized coordinated civil-military efforts were crucial to meeting the challenges that ISPR faced, Ice.

During his interaction with evacuated, the Army Chief insured them for continued support for resettlement and rehabilitation. The displaced residents expressed gratitude to the army of what they described as timely assistance in a critical time.
ISPR further stated that the army chief also met troops, rescue of 1122 workers and police personnel dealing with relief operations. He praised their morals, operational readiness and “around the clock, carried out in close coordination with civil administration to provide timely relief and help to the people.”

The Army Chief later carried out an air incidence of flood-affected areas along Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess damage and monitor relief work. He was received upon arrival by the Corps Chiefs of Lahore and Multan.
