Coas Munir and China’s FM discussing security

Chief of Army Staff (Coas) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Islamabad on Friday morning with regional secret and terrorist fighting on the agenda, according to a statement released by Military’s Media Wing.

FM Wang Yi is in Islamabad on an official visit to participate in the sixth Pakistan-Chin Strategic Dialogue on Thursday. The dialogue ended with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and FM Wang Yi, which lay the basis for questions such as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0 and confirms commitment to strong bilateral ties.

The Chinese FM also met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.

“I repeated Pakistna’s regular decision to strengthen our strategic cooperative partnership for all weather and emphasized CPEC’s central role in driving our socio -economic progress and improving regional connection,” PM Shehbaz wrote at X (formerly Twitter) after their meeting.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement about Coas Munir’s meeting with the Chinese FM. “Both sides confirmed their decision to strengthen the strategic partnership and improve coordination on regional and international forums.”

The two parties dealing with dialogue focused on regional secret, terrorism and questions of mutual interest.

The meeting ended with Wang Yi repeating China’s “steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development”.

Coas Munir and FM Wang Yi shared ways of establishing “a common commitment to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region”.

Last month, Coas Munir was in Beijing, where the Chinese leadership famous Pakistan army’s role in ensuring peace in the region. They declared the Pakistani army a “cornerstone of resilience” and an important contributor to stability in the region.
