Coastal Carolina Main coach Kevin Schnall Blacksmith Umpires at Men’s College World Series Sunday after Chanticleers’ loss to LSU Tigers.

Schnall was thrown out in the first place after an argument with the home plate Umpire Angel Campos. He said his draft was not eligible and he was incorrectly accused of bumping a judge who seemed to travel and fall to the ground as he came to break the upset.

“If you guys watch the video, there was a guy who came extremely aggressively, stumbled over Campos’ foot, embarrassed in front of 25,000 and goes, ‘two-game-pension’ and says’ Shock on the referee, ‘” Schnall said. “There was no shock. I should not be held responsible for an adult man’s athletics. Now it is excessive because I was trying to say that I did not bump him.

“That’s what it is. If it justified a draft, there would be a lot of spraying. Like Umpires, it’s your job to manage the game with some poise and tranquility and a little bit of tolerance.”

NCAA said Schnall argued for balls and strikes heard on the broadcast. NCAA added that the main coach was given a warning.

When LSU won Game 2 and College World Series, Schnall’s Suspension would start in the 2026 season. NCAA said that Schnall and first-base coach Matt Schilling engaged in “long-term argumenting,” which triggers a two-game-pension. Schilling is likely to be suspended in three games – one for the draft and two for “long -lasting cranking.”

Schnall said he couldn’t hear Campos’ first warning when he argued for balls and strikes. He added that he wasn’t “sorry” for what happened.

“As a head coach, it’s your right to get an explanation of why we were warned,” Schnall said. “I am 48 years old and I should not be shooed by another adult man. When I came out, I was told it was a warning that was released to argue for balls and strikes, and I said it was because you were missing out on three. At the time that was thrown out. If it guarantees an exhaust, I am the first one who stands here as a man and sorry.”

Coastal Carolina Athletic Director Chance Miller said on Sunday night that the sprayers “changed the pitch to a must-win game for our team.”

“These decisions were made with an alarming level of haste, without an attempt at de-shell and deprived of our student athletes for the leadership they have been dependent on through a historic race after the season,” Miller said.

“This is not about a single call-that is about process and professionalism. At the greatest moment of the College Baseball season, our program and its student athletes deserved better.”

Miller asked NCAA to reassess his training methods and how it assigns and undergoes umpire in championship environments.
