Daily routines have come to a standstill due to the extreme cold, with public activities slowing down significantly
SHANGLA:
A fresh wave of severe stormy weather with heavy rains, strong winds and hail has swept through Shangla district, plunging the region into an intense cold spell and severely disrupting normal life.
The latest bout of monsoon-like rains began with thunderstorms that brought heavy rainfall and hail in various parts of the district. As is typical during rains, the power supply system has been badly affected, leading to prolonged outages in many areas.
After the heavy rains, freezing winds have gripped the valley and enveloped Shangla in bitter cold. Residents are reporting a sharp drop in temperatures, especially in the upper regions, including Alpuri and adjoining hilly areas, where an unusual drop has been recorded. The combination of persistent rain and hail has significantly intensified the cold, with mornings and nights becoming particularly harsh.
Daily routines have come to a standstill due to the extreme cold, with public activities slowing down significantly. In some places, heavy hail increased the problems. Locals say demand for fuel for heating has increased.
