A Spike Lee-instrumented documents with Colin Kaepernick, set to be posted at ESPN, is no longer happening, the network said and the filmmaker in a statement on Sunday.

ESPN said the question was due to “creative differences.”

“Espn, Colin Kaepernick and Spike Lee have collectively decided to no longer continue with this project as a result of certain creative differences,” ESPN told Reuters in a statement. “Despite not reaching finality, we appreciate all the hard work and cooperation that went into this film.”

Lee told Reuters Friday that the documentary didn’t come out and that was all he could say. Later, he added that he signed a non -publicization of it.

Reuters reported that a Kaepernick representative had no comment.

It was almost a decade ago when Kaepernick, then by San Francisco 49ers, protested against racial injustice in the United States as he kneeled under National Anthem before a trial game. It demonstrated kick -started a fire storm around the league, causing NFL players and President Donald Trump to fight at one point.

Kaepernick protested throughout the 2016 season and left the 49s before the start of the 2017 season. He has not played in the NFL since then. He filed a co -case case against the NFL, which was settled in 2019.
