College Football News: Florida State Honor Ethan Pritchard During the Game

Florida State honored Freshman Linebacker Ethan Pritchard, who had a gunshot wound last weekend, during his match against East Texas A&M on Saturday.

Pritchard was shot on the back of his head while driving, his father, Earl, told WFFV on Wednesday. He remains admitted to Tallahasee, Florida.

Pritchard’s father was on the sidelines for their matchup against East Texas A&M. Florida State Safety Earl Little Jr. Bar Pritchards No. 35 jersey to the midfield for the coin.

Players had No. 35 bracelets to honor their teammate. Defensive Tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. warmed up while he was in a t-shirt with Pritchard’s face on.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell said he visited Pritchard earlier this week and had given updates to his team about Pritchard’s condition.

Florida State disturbed Alabama last week and dominated in his second season match and beat East Texas A&M 77-3 on Saturday at home, with Pritchard’s father present.

Pritchard played high school football at Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida, and was a four-star recruiter. He was ranked No. 437 in 247Sports Composite and No. 507 nationally in the on3 industry.

ESPN ranked Pritchard as No. 39 Linebacker nationally and No. 64 player in Florida.

As a senior, he helped lead seminole high school to a 10-2 record and its second consecutive regional final in 2024, registering 39 tackles and seven tackles for losses in nine games.

Like Junior, Pritchard had 75 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and a fumble improvement when Seminole High School went 10-3. He began his high school career as a security before switching to Linebacker as another.

Pritchard committed to Florida State in October 2023 and chose Seminoles over Miami, Florida and UCF among others.

Florida State doesn’t have a game next week. It’s the next game will be against Kent State on September 20th.
