After being fired by Stanford University over accusations of bullying and breaking down of staff, Troy Taylor said he has been portrayed “unfair” and was fired “for no reason.”
Taylor was first examined over a year ago, which led to him signing a warning letter 14 February and another study that ended on July 24.
However, in a statement published on Wednesday, Taylor said he has not been subject to other complaints since then and even forfeited an increase “for the sake of the team.”

“For 30 years I have been a coach and teach at high school and college level. I have had great team success with every program that I have coached, without a single problem or complaint about my treatment of others. I used the same approach and values to a Stanford program dealing with some resident,” Taylor said.
Taylor said both studies were “wrongly revealed” to the media. The first probe, Taylor said was about “a complaint from an athletic administrator who claimed I was trying to remove her as our football administrator for an unreasonable reason.”
Taylor said he “disagreed with the complaint” but “took it seriously and fully cooperated.” The investigation, Taylor said, “concluded that I wasn’t acting unfairly,” and he got an extension and got up at the end of February “because I was told we built something special.”

“Later, in March 2024, another complaint was filed by a member of the Compliance Office about a discussion about the physical speed in which Stanford players could participate in a review. This was resolved in July 2024. Two other witnesses (a male and a woman) were present during the first discussion about the speed that the players could attend.
That was after this study, Taylor said he lost his journey. However, University General Manager Andrew Luck Taylor fired late last month, as Taylor said was “for no reason.”

“The media’s recent portrayal of me is unreasonable, wrong and unlike my professional track record and the person I am and have always been,” Taylor said. “The truth is that Stanford terminated me for no reason and as a result honor the original payment terms for my contract.
“I stand by my efforts to lead with integrity in Stanford and elsewhere and to build a winning team and culture that is inclusive and respect everyone. I am convinced that the players, coaches and staff are currently at Stanford. While I am disappointed that Stanford has now decided that I am no longer the right person to lead the football team, I am grateful to my time at Stanford and Wish Stanford Football team
