Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer called NCAA off the punishment it charged against Michigan for his deficit scheme.
Michigan received a fine that is expected to exceed $ 20 million, while head coach Sherrone Moore will have an extra game added to his already self-adjudicated two-game-pension which he will earn this season.
Meyer, 61, compared Michigan’s punishment with the sanctions Ohio State received in 2011.

NCAA gave Ohio State a one -year bowl ban after a scandal involving eight players receiving $ 14,000 in cash and tattoos in exchange for team jerseys, rings and other memorabilia. Ohio State also faced further sanctions at the top of the bowl ban.

Meyer agreed with NCAA’s decision not to punish Michigan’s players for something they did not, but still criticized NCAA.
“The recent NCAA decision not to punish players who were not involved is correct. However, this decision also proves that NCAA as a enforcement arm no longer exists,” Meyer said.
Former chief coach Jim Harbaugh, employee Connor Stalions and assistant coach Denard Robinson was also punished for their roles in the scandal.

Below are the sanctions that NCAA dolved out:
“The prescribed sanctions for the parties who contested their violations in this case are as follows:
- Four years of probation.
- Financial sanctions: $ 50,000 fine, plus 10% of the budget for the football program. A fine equivalent with the expected loss of all revenue for competition for the fall season associated with 2025 and 2026 football seasons. A fine equivalent with the cost of 10% of the scholarships awarded in Michigan’s football program for the 2025-26 annual year of the year.
- $ 50,000 fine plus 10% of budget for the football program.
- A fine equivalent with the expected loss of all revenue settlement of the competition competition, which is associated with the football seasons 2025 and 2026.
