Anthony Richardson leads into his third season with a real quarterback match, but his persecution after winning the starting job of the 2025 season will be harder after suffering an injury.
Richardson has to do with a shoulder injury in his throwing arm, and he does not attend Colts’ MiniCamp next week, per. Main coach Shane Steichen.
Steichen added that Richardson suffered the injury last week under organized team activities.

“Doctors, educators checked it,” said Steichen pr. Nfl.com. “He has some deterioration in his AC -joint. So we will put him out this week. It is clear that he is sitting after MiniCamp. We will see when he comes back. Not to put a timetable for training camp on it, but when he comes back we will throw him and then we go from there. The good thing is that he does not need a procedure right now.”
While Steichen noted that the injury was not severe enough for surgery, a procedure was not excluded down the line.

Richardson has dealt with several injuries in his first two NFL seasons, which included a seasonal ending injury after four games in his rookie year. A sloping injury in 2024 held him out of two matches.
Richardson, the team’s fourth overall election in 2023 out of Florida, fought in his return to Colts last year and threw only 1,814 yards in 11 games with a completion rate of 47.7%.

Steichen moved to the bench Richardson last season as he fought, with backup Joe Flacco, who replaced him under the middle.
This year, the Colts brought in Daniel Jones, whom New York Giants cut ties midway through the 2024 campaign because of his own matches, to compete with Richardson in training camp.
While Jones did not pan during his four -year extension in New York, he has many years of start in the NFL under his belt. His addition to the Quarterbacks room made many people believe that Richardson’s job wasn’t safe.
Richardson now has to fight for another injury before fighting against Jones.

“It’s frustrating, but he’s in a good mood,” Steichen said of Richardson. “So we’re working through it right now.”
With Richardson sideways, Jones will get the brother party of MiniCamp reps.
